Historically speaking, Tipp City was originally named Tippecanoe in honor of William Henry Harrison whose campaign slogan was “Tippecanoe & Tyler Too”. Developed in 1840, the town was purposely situated to take advantage of the traffic on the Miami-Erie Canal. You can find early evidence of this canal history along the recreational trail and in downtown Tipp City at Lock #15.
All of this and more make it easy to see why Tipp City was picked as one of Ohio’s Best Hometowns by Ohio Magazine.
